I love Mother’s Day! And it has nothing to do with the cards or the gifts. I love it because of what it means. It is about the greatest blessings in my knowledge.– my kids. It is also the one day of the year that is all about me.
Like every other mom out there, I give everything I have to my skill. I often sacrifice so my kids can have what they need – just like you (proof of this I find can usually be found in a mom’s sock and underwear drawer 😉 ).
But, the thing that I have learned over time is that it can’t be all about everyone else. If my bucket is empty, I have nothing to give to others. I also know that it is vital that I do things for myself – and not feel guilty about it!!!
I decided to do that this year. I got myself a gift.
I signed up with .
Now, before someone says that I don’t need to lose weight, I agree with you. Sure, I could stand to lose a few pounds, but that is not what it is about. I did not join to look great in a bathing suit.
I joined so that I could feel better about myself.
When I feel healthy and confident, my kids see that. I give them everything I can, but one of the best things I can do is teach them how to love themselves. To be comfortable in their skin.
That’s why I did it.
My Noom Review
What is Noom?
You have probably seen the commercials or ads in your Facebook feed about . Noom is an app that helps people learn how to eat better and live a healthy knowledge.
To date, more than 40 million people have signed up! There is a reason for that!
What makes them different than other apps?
There are plenty of options available for you to use to shed those unwanted pounds. What makes Noom different is that they don’t just talk about counting calories and exercising. They focus on the psychology behind living a healthy knowledge.tyle.
The offer tips and quizzes that help you not only learn about how to change the way you think about food and eat, but what you should do instead.
For example, one of the quizzes I took was about eating late at night. After deciding that, I realized what my brain was trying to convince me of – that I deserved it. That is not a good reason to eat late at night!
I now think more about why I feel I need to eat. If it is because I am hungry, I grab something like an orange or grapes (filled with water). Then, the next night, I eat more for dinner so I can curb those late night hunger pains.
Noom is teaching me to look at food differently. It is different.
One of the awesome things about Noom is the support. There is a community of people in the same boat as you. You get to lift one another, help, support, cry, cheer — all of the things you need to help you reach your goals.
Noom uses certified coaches
Noom doesn’t use just anyone for support. Each person who is a coach must complete Noomiversity’s core knowledge.tyle coach training. The International Consortium recognizes this training for Health and Wellness Training.
All of the coaches must also have a Bachelor or Associate Degree in some type of a related field, such as personal coaching or nutrition + 2,000 hours of experience. Also, they must attend weekly training sessions.
I find that this is much better than other program’s “diet coaches” who often do not have the expertise and experience you want or need in a coach.
How Does Noom Work?
Download the or go online. You will fill out a profile where they ask you questions about what you want to weigh, your age, gender, knowledge.tyle, where you live and more. Noom then goes to work!
It takes all of your stats into consideration and then assigns you a calorie total for the day. That means what they tell you to consume is different from everyone else.
You’ll want to sign up when you get that!
You will fill out your full profile, and then they get to work! Each day you check the app. The first thing you see is a way to get motivated. Then you will weight in, and it will help you with some new ideas and strategies to help you stay on track and achieve your goals.
That is probably my favorite part! The app is always encouraging and helping you. Anyone can track food and calories – you need someone to lift you up and give you the strategies to meet your goals!
You’ll track your food each day (they make that super easy). The app will also track your steps. But you have to carry your phone everywhere, or it won’t track (obviously). I don’t put as much on that as I do a lot of walking and do not have my phone with me.
My coach has been amazing! She is right there when I need some help or encouragement. I, for one, need that! I do not do well on my own (I do better when I am accountable).
Do you have to track everything?
One thing I know many people don’t like is having to track everything you eat. The idea is that if you want to make a knowledge.tyle change, you need to see what you are doing now so you can make changes.
I say this when it comes to spending money. You need to keep track of where you spend so you can see where you need to cut back and where you should improve.
The same is true with diet and exercise.
I can see what I put in my mouth each day. While some are great days, others are a colossal failure with all of the wrong foods or just eating far too much.
For me, that helps! I don’t like seeing those days show up in my food diary. I think more about what I am doing since I have to tell someone what I am doing.
Do you need to buy anything extra to use Noom?
Nope! You don’t have to join a gym. There are no special powders, pills, or foods. That makes it more affordable than some of the other options out there.
So, what does Noom cost?
The good news is that so you can check it out before you pay. That way, you can see what it is about and make sure it is a fit for you and your knowledge.tyle.
After that, it runs $45 a month. That may be a bit steep but look at what you get. You get a personalized coach right there. You are getting the tools you need to change the way you look at and consume food.
For me, it is an investment in myself. I am worth it.

Noom is an investment in myself. I’m worth it. I deserve it.
I want to feel better about myself. I want to show my kids that I love my body. They need to see me not being uncomfortable in my skin.
To date, I’ve lost about 2 lbs. But again, it is not just about the number on the scale. It is about the way I feel in my clothes. I’ll be checking back in with you in 6 weeks to share my progress – so check back!
I’ve tried to do it on my own. It doesn’t work. I need something that forces me to stick to it in a way that is fun and encouraging. For me, it’s .
